1. About these terms
These terms explain how my practice works, what you can expect, and what I ask of you in return. By booking an appointment or engaging me for assessment, therapy, supervision, or other services, you agree to these terms. If anything is unclear, please contact me before our first appointment.
Dr. Neil Drew is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist registered with the HCPC and works in accordance with the standards and guidelines of the British Psychological Society (BPS). My practice is based at The Poundbury Practice, The Pediment, 17 Buttermarket, Poundbury, Dorset.
2. Services I provide
I provide psychological assessment and therapy primarily for adults, including autism and ADHD assessments, combined autism and ADHD assessments (AuDHD), neuropsychological cognitive assessment, psychological therapy, medico-legal and expert witness work, and professional supervision. Services are offered face to face in Dorset and online, depending on what is most appropriate for your needs.
3. Crisis and emergencies
I do not provide a crisis or emergency service. If you or someone else is at immediate risk of harm, please call 999, go to your nearest A&E department, or contact NHS 111. I cannot guarantee an immediate response outside scheduled appointments.
4. Communication
You can contact me by email at drneildrew@protonmail.com. I aim to respond within a reasonable timeframe, though I cannot guarantee an immediate reply. Matters of clinical significance are best discussed during scheduled appointments rather than by email or text.
5. Fees and payment
Current fees for self-funded assessments and therapy are shown on the Fees page. Fees for medico-legal work, neuropsychological assessment, and other bespoke services are available on request and will be confirmed in writing before work begins.
Payment is due on the day of your appointment or assessment unless otherwise agreed in advance. I accept payment by bank transfer. For assessment packages, full payment may be required before the final report is released. Invoices will include bank details and a payment reference.
If you are using private health insurance or a third-party funder, you are responsible for confirming your cover directly with your insurer, including any excess or limits. You remain responsible for any cancellation or non-attendance fees and any shortfall not covered by your insurer.
6. Cancellations and missed appointments
I require at least 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Appointments cancelled, rescheduled, or missed with less than 48 hours' notice may be charged in full.
This policy applies equally to face-to-face, telephone, and video appointments. If you join late, are unable to attend, or experience technical difficulties on your side that prevent us from meeting, the session may still be charged. Please ensure you are in a private, confidential location and that your device is charged and connected.
7. Assessments and reports
Diagnostic assessments are typically delivered across several appointments, which may include an initial consultation, clinical interview, questionnaires, and a feedback session. I will give you an estimated timeline at the outset, including likely report turnaround time, though this may vary depending on clinical complexity and the information received.
Reports and letters are prepared for your personal use and may be shared with relevant third parties, such as your GP or employer, at your discretion. The clinical opinions and professional judgements within a report remain my professional responsibility. I am happy to discuss and correct factual errors, but I cannot alter clinical opinions that do not reflect my professional judgement.
8. Virtual appointments
Video appointments are conducted via secure, encrypted platforms. I will send a link in advance where needed. Please join from a private space and consider using headphones to protect confidentiality.
If a video session is disrupted by technical problems beyond either of our control, I will try to reconnect for up to ten minutes. If reconnection is not possible, we may continue by telephone or reschedule the remainder of the session. Sessions must not be recorded by either party without prior written agreement.
9. Confidentiality
I treat everything you share as confidential. I will not disclose information to a third party without your permission, except where the law requires it, where there is a risk of serious harm to you or others, or to protect public safety. In such cases I will follow HCPC and BPS guidance and, wherever possible, discuss this with you first.
Full details of how I handle personal data are set out in my Privacy Policy.
10. Complaints
I hope you will be satisfied with the service you receive. If you have a concern, please raise it with me directly in the first instance so we can try to resolve it. If you prefer, you can contact the HCPC at hcpc-uk.org/concerns or the BPS at bps.org.uk.
11. Changes to these terms
I may update these terms from time to time. Where changes are material, I will notify existing clients by email. The version in force at the time you book an appointment will apply to that engagement.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any dispute arising from them shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
